Living Art: A Creative Cohort
With Theresa Henson
February 7 - 11, 2022
…to take back our own listening, to use our own voice, to see our own light. ~ Hildegard of Bingen
The heart creates. We all receive the gift of life in a tangible world and — animated by curiosity and love — we transform what we can touch into expressions of the heart, giving back to the creator that created us.
In this 12-week program, you will focus on developing a lived practice of creating, learning that our expressions do not reside across some great chasm of limitations but are as near to us as anything within reach and as natural as the most routine parts of our day. Amidst a supportive community, you will begin to integrate art into a lived spirituality and the heart’s life. We will take as inspiration elements of Benedictine spirituality and the three monastic promises: obedience, stability, and fidelity.
The program begins with a five-day retreat February 7-11, 2022, focusing on art foundations and discerning our creative calls. The week will also feature afternoon studio sessions with guest artists. In the following 12 weeks, participants will receive weekly prompts to inspire their practices and have opportunities to gather virtually.
Living Art concludes May 6-8, 2022, in a weekend retreat where we will reflect upon our experiences, share our artistic discoveries, and make commitments to continue to live intentional creative lives.
You are invited to live artfully and be living art. No artistic experience required.
Living Art is limited to 10 participants. A donation of $800 will cover the two retreats, food, lodging, and program costs.
